At Simon’s Town School, we prepare learners for life beyond the school by encouraging them and broadening their minds.
We focus on the emotional, social and academic and on building self-esteem and character. We also aim to develop within our learners a realisation that they are unique beings and that they are to treat other unique beings with respect.
Learners are taken on outings and guest speakers and drama groups visit the school on a regular basis to contribute to the education of the learners.
Learners are encouraged to reach their full potential through individual attention. Acknowledgement is not only given to the top achievers in sport, culture and academics but also to everyone who does their personal best.
A remedial educator, as well as volunteer workers from the Simon’s Town community, assist learners who struggle with mathematics and reading.
Simon’s Town School is also supported by the Fish Hoek Education Support Centre. As many of our learners are from the Naval Community, we are also able to make use of the Navy’s welfare services.

Foundation Phase (Grade R to 3)
The Foundation Phase educators are all CAPS-trained and experienced and each child is taught at his or her own level. Small numbers enable individuals to be catered for.
We have many Help2Read volunteers who assist learners who struggle with reading. Learners spend time in the Library and remedial assistance is also available. Volunteers from Living Hope offer a weekly comprehensive Life Skills programme.
All Grade 1’s learn basic ball skills, after which they have a choice of netball and soccer in winter and mini-tennis, mini-cricket and rounders in summer. Children also take part in weekly singing, speech and drama and dance lessons.
At the end of each academic year we have our annual Prize Giving Ceremony where the achievements of every child are recognised. Self-confidence is encouraged by participation in the annual Variety Concert and our Fun Sports Day is also enthusiastically supported.
Our Grade 4 to 7 educators are a professional and dedicated team with many years of experience. They stay abreast of the latest developments in education by attending regular courses and believe in contributing to the friendly, family orientated atmosphere for which Simon’s Town School is known.
Our current complement of High School educators has a combined 472 years of experience. This enthusiastic and committed team’s varied age profile makes them a formidable team.
